Abstract

The Xiao's literary group, consisting of the father Xiao Yan and his sons Xiao Tong. Xiao Gang and Xiao Yi, underwent three periods of development: the initial period represented by Xiao Yan, the growth period represented by Xiao Tong, and the maturity period represented by both XiaoGang and Xiao Yi. The whole of three periods lasted for nearly fifty years during the Liang dynasty (502 557). Because of different literary tendencies of four Xiaos, the dominant literary views of the group changed with the change of each representative: from advocating classicism to inheriting the tradition and making alterations and then to seeking new changes. At the same time, relying on their strong political position and literary talents, they each organized literary groups with themselves as the core, carrying out all kinds of literary activities, which led to a transformational period from being classical and elegant to being natural and graceful and finally to being ornate and vivid in terms of the poetic style during the Liang dynasty. Therefore, the Xiao's group is the most influential literary organization in the literary history of the Liang dynasty, which is worthy of attention and in-depth research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
