Abstract
- The article discusses the pluralization of space in the short stories "Slumming: A Story by Lady Baglady," by Chuck Palahniuk and "The Cariboo Café," by Helena Viramontes. The author discusses how space theory relates to the depiction of the homeless in both stories. He comments that the depictions of cities in the stories function as microcosms of society suggesting invisible social divisions.
