Abstract
- The article focuses on the U.S. Army's doctrine for dismounted patrolling. The U.S. Army Infantry School, which is responsible for updating the doctrine, reviews what was written in the past and develops what should be done to unknown enemies on the battlefields of the future. The latest doctrine can be found in FM 3-21.8, "The Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad." It is reported that there is an increase in dismounted patrolling by U.S. infantrymen in Iraq and Afghanistan to improve the security situation and counter the insurgency.
