Abstract

The article reports on the implications of garbage dumping in Antarctica. Makeshift rubbish tips in Antarctica revealed batteries, diesel, oil drums and dead dogs and these were dumped in more than seventy waste sites. Serious technical difficulties are faced by clean up drives pushed by the 1991 Madrid protocol.
