Abstract
- The article presents the author's analysis on the life and contributions in the art of William Morris Hunt. He was born of a wealthy family in Brattleboro, Vermont. He studied arts in France and was recognized as a known painter in Europe. On his return to New England, he introduced French influence into American painting. His masterpieces served as his bread and butter. The Great Boston Fire of 1872 became a disaster on his life because many of his collections and paintings were destroyed.
