Abstract
- The article describes The Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The branch is built on the summit of Fort Tryon Park, as if it allegedly guards the city from the northern barbarians of the Bronx. Its renovation starts in 1934, with James Rorimer as the curator and Charles Collens as the architect. It displays art objects such as "The Nine Heroes," "Chasse aux Oiseaux," "Standing Woman," by Gaston Lachaise, and the Mérode altar-piece by Robert Campin.
