Abstract
- This paper will report on a recently funded National Academies study on the "Technical and Privacy Dimensions of Information for Terrorism Prevention and Other National Goals. This two year study is being funded by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Science Foundation and will address the specific information needs of the government as it faces the challenges of terrorism prevention and threats to public health and safety. It will examine the government's deployment of various forms of technology for broad access to date and the privacy issues such deployment presents. It will also examine the impact of these technologies on the ability of the Federal statistical agencies to collect accurate date from the public. The paper will present information from two workshops held in 2006 to inform the study committee. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
