The article presents the author's opinions on the positive impact global warming could have on society. Arguments are presented which suggest that since global warming and the shrinking Arctic icecaps are opening new sea lanes and making barren islands very valuable, the international community might experience a new race of exploration, conquest and aquisition for the newly available lands and sea routes.
