Abstract

This article looks at the history of some Chinese furniture of the Ming and early Qing periods. The author highlights the Bauhaus aesthetic of Chinese furniture and its legacy as being the catalyst for the popularity of Chinese wood furniture in the West. He cites the inclusion of several Chinese folding chairs within a London Aesthetic interior. the author describes the form and design of the furniture.
