Abstract

The author reflects on Prairie Crossing in Illinois. According to her, the community has served as an economic and intellectual driver for the Liberty Prairie Reserve. She remarks that a sense of the American Midwest and conservation ideas is apparent in several elements for the planned development in the community which include broad front porches, community stables and riding paths and community-supported agriculture.
