Abstract

The article discusses several architectural activities and attributes in Pleasant View Gardens public housing in Baltimore, Maryland. The activities include the refining of the row house, which promotes a strong sense of place, and strategic variation of streets and spacing, which provides additional space for public buildings. It suggests that Pleasant View Gardens is considered to align with the goals of the Hope VI urban development program. It also suggests that the participation of the residents in the planning process is an important aspect on of the program.
