Abstract

The article discusses the decline of Roman culture in England in the 7th century. British King Edward I captured Caernarfon, England and designed a castle influenced by roman architecture. The Roman province of Britannia Prima in western England survived longer than other Roman provinces. Britain was left defenseless when Roman Emperor Constantine III took the field army away, forcing governors to hire Germanic mercenaries.
