Abstract

An interview with several experts on the role of computer programmers in architecture is presented. David M. Harper of Harper Careño in Miami believes that changes in design approach have assimilated programmers into the design process. Herbert McLaughlin of Kaplan/McLaughlin/Diaz thinks that postmodernism in architecture has made programming a distinct art form. Wilbur H. Tusler Jr. of Stone Marraccini & Patterson opines that programming process of the 1960s and 1970s has been bypassed in the 1980s movement for search of a new product.
