Abstract
- The article reports on the decision of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to demolish the Modern Andre Meyer Galleries. The movable wall panels, pedestals and freestanding casework were removed and the perimeter walls, sloping window and skylit ceiling were concealed within a suite of Neo-Neoclassical rooms. Curator Gary Tinterow and exhibition designer David Harvey handled the renovation. It was observed that the Neoclassical detail creates distraction within the modest spaces.
