Abstract
- The article focuses on the status of the East London Line (ELL) extension project in England by the Balfour Beatty/Carillion main works joint venture. An 84m span steel truss bridge will carry the twin tracks of the ELL. The contractors are designing two viaducts and one bridge to be built between Whitechapel and Shoreditch and a steel truss flyover at New Cross. Standardized design of composite decks on longitudinal and transverse L-section steel beams replaced the 10-plate girder structures.
