Abstract

The article reports that a U.S. federal judge has ordered Capitol Records Inc. to pay about $70,000 to cover the attorney fees and litigation costs of woman the company has unsuccessfully sued for illegal downloading. The ruling issued by District Court in Oklahoma is an indication of the first reimbursement of expenses to a defendant in the music industry's lawsuit against alleged online pirates. In 2004, Capitol sued Deborah Foster for alleged copyright violation via unauthorized downloading.
