Abstract

The article focuses on the efforts of the U.S. National Gallery of Art during the fiscal year 2006 in line with its mission of preserving its collections. During the year, 26 conservation treatments were completed by painting conservators for exhibitions and research projects, including some works of Giovanni Bellini, Henri Rousseau and Hornace Vernet. Object conservators completed 148 major and minor treatments, as well as 959 major and minor examinations. Paper conservation, which was led by Kimberly Schenck, included 277 minor treatments and 2,315 examinations.
