Abstract

The article focuses on a cross-sectional study that examines the relationship between phytoestrogen exposure and circulating sex hormones and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels in postmenopausal women and their interactions with genetic polymorphisms involved in estrogen signaling conducted in Great Britain. The study found that lignans were associated with plasma SHBG. The researchers conclude that phytoestrogens modulate sex hormone and SHBG levels among the subjects.
