Abstract

The article focuses on managing wound problems following a joint replacement. Peri-prosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a devastating complication associated with high levels of patient morbidity, substantial financial costs and frustration of clinicians. C-reactive protein is an acute phase protein linked to systemic inflammation that determines patient recovery and potential infection. PJI is treated based on the assessment of patient-related variables.
