Abstract
- The article focuses on the use of Flomeric Inc.'s EFD.Lab software to optimize the design of the new hydrocarbon trap for a partial-zero-emissions vehicle of Miniature Precision Components Inc. in Great Britain. The fluid-flow and heat-transfer analysis software predicts the pressure drop and flow velocities through a catalytic converter. It is used to evaluate the performance of 12 design alternatives to minimize backpressure on the trap while obtaining the hydrocarbon adsorption needed.
