Abstract

The article reports on the possibility that the Olympic Park wind turbine in London, England will be switched off during competitions at the 2012 Olympic Games. It was feared that the turbine will cause light to flicker and distract athletes according to Simon Wright of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA). Engineers are reported to look at ways to minimize the effect. The planned turbine measures 80 meters (m) with three 40m long blades and will overlook the cycle park and hockey pitches.
