Abstract

The article announces that paper manufacturing company International Paper will no longer use shredded tires as fuel for the boilers that power the company's mills in Ticonderoga, New York. The paper plant had been conducting a test to see if shredded tires would be a viable substitute fuel. The test burn was halted after a week when the levels of particulates being produced were found to be approaching federal limits.
