Abstract
- The article discusses the malfunctions and the vulnerabilities of direct-recording electronic (DRE) voting machines, which was used in the U.S. elections to eliminate paper ballot hazards. Most of the criticism for DRE machines revolves around the lack of a paper trail or tangible documentation. The controversy in Florida's 13th Congressional District brought by voting irregularities is discussed. Mathew Zimmerman of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) said that electronic voting suffers from a lack of transparency.
