Abstract
- The article provides information on the decision of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the U.S. to make Emergency Contraception (EC) an over the counter drug. The decision of FDA reflects the extent to which contraception has become a new focal point of conflict in the battle over abortion. In Michigan and Missouri, pro-life advocates have already introduced bills that would restrict the sale of EC to prescription-only. Both FDA and medical community consider EC to be a preventive. Jurisprudence protects both the decision to use contraceptives and to have an abortion.
