Abstract

The article focuses on a December 2006 shut down of a major paper and pulp port in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by native Indians. Approximately 150 armed indians occupied a port operated by several paper and pulp companies in an effort to bring attention to their demands for an expanded reservation. The Tupinquim and Guarani tribes were joined by members of the Landless Rural Workers Movement at the event.
