Abstract
- An encyclopedia entry for the late U.S. President Thomas Jefferson is presented. His educational background is presented including his studies at William and Mary College. Jefferson believed that man had been placed on earth to pursue his happiness. The emphasis of Jefferson on the value of human independence and autonomy is also elaborated.
