Abstract
- An encyclopedia entry for philosopher William Maccall is presented. He was born in Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland on February 25, 1812. He became a Unitarian minister in Bolton, Lancashire and at Crediton in Devon, England. His principal contribution to philosophy was an ethics of individualism. He believes that human beings exist for a purpose and that every individual is unique.
