Abstract
- Chapter 5 of the book "Rose Man of Sing Sing" is presented. It describes the experiences of Charles E. Chapin, a New York newspaper editor, as a former marine reporter for the "Chicago Tribune" in Illinois in 1887. Chapin followed a story about the schooner Blake, which was suspected of carrying onboard former county hospital warden William McGarigle to escape to Canada. McGarigle granted Chapin an exclusive interview about his escape.
