Abstract
- The article focuses on the possible changes in the U.S. Defense Department with the nomination of Robert Gates to replace Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Among the tasks awaiting Gates are to get more than $400 million budget under control and to put the strategy in Iraq back on track. Gates is a former Air Force officer known for his diplomacy and intellect.
