Abstract

The article focuses on the role of the University of Oklahoma in Norman in the First World War. Before the war was actually upon them, students relied on the student newspaper "Oklahoma Daily" which is devoted to parties of fraternities and sororities and latest campus happenings. On April 11, 1917, women students held their patriotic mass meeting and organized a Red Cross society as their support to the war effort. The campus awarded academic credit to those who left school to enlist before the end of the semester.
