Abstract

The article offers information on various religious institutions in New York City. The Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, was founded downtown in 1808 by African-American and Ethiopian merchants. The world's largest Gothic cathedral, St. John the Divine is being built using traditional Gothic engineering. Other religious institutions cited include The Church of the Transfiguration, the Mother A.M.E. Zion Church and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
