Abstract

The article criticizes the theory of the origins and nature of the human self and its relation to society by German philosopher Jürgen Habermas. In Habermas' book titled "Theory of Communication," he argued that individuation and socialization are possible on the basis of linguistic structures. The author states that his critique of the philosophy of consciousness failed to grasp that consciousness is the most basic form of intentional awareness. Furthermore, he argues that language did not establish the human condition, and the human person lives only in one world and has one self.
