Cherokee to Use Hand-Held Computers for Language Translation.

Abstract

The article reports that the Eastern band of Cherokee Indians will use a federal grant to buy hand-held computers that translate English into Cherokee. Information on the population of fluent Cherokee speakers is presented. The cost of the grant and the number of machines to be bought by the tribe are cited.
