Abstract

The article cites key survey findings from Great Britain in 2006 indicating employees' concerns on the readiness of business enterprises to respond to workplace emergencies. Even though 80% of respondents want emergency response plans to be in place in companies, less than 20% actually receive regular briefings on emergency response plans. The survey findings also showed that 63% of companies do not review their emergency response plans more than once every quarter. The issues' implications for industrial safety and management are also cited.
