Biological Confusion.

The article reports on the announcement of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding the issuance of guidelines for biologic drugs including Insulin and human growth hormone. FDA decided to publish guidelines which are more broadly applicable to biogenerics in general. The patent protection issues can be resolved through the partnership between FDA and biotechnology companies. The companies wishing to obtain approval to market a generic form of biologic must conduct clinical trials.
