Abstract: The article focuses on the detection of metabolic disorders among mentally retarded children through the use of paper spot tests. Urine specimens were obtained from mentally retarded children. The specimens have been tested for the presence of phenylpyruvic acid, galactose and cystine. Three children with phenyl-ketonuria have been identified.
