Abstract

This article presents information on Kate Maehr, executive director, Greater Chicago Food Depository . She worked for five years as managing editor of a non-profit literary publishing house in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She joined the Food Depository in 1996 as director of individual giving and was named director of development in 1999. She raised $30 million to build a larger warehouse and training facility. Her job is addressing the underlying issues such as, hunger illiteracy, substance abuse and poverty.
