Creation of Digital City Model using Single High Resolution Satellite Image.

The article discusses the possibility of establishing a digital city model using a single satellite image while obtaining accurate results and without bearing too much costs. With one Quick Bird satellite image, technicians of RMSI, a company located in India, discovered the possibilities of creating the project without complexities. The company chose an area in Abu Dhabi, UAE, for its organized layout, with high-rise buildings that are spaced to provide for a clear view. Semi-automated methods of feature extraction were performed but this method is not suitable for areas that have the highest density of high-rise buildings. It can be concluded that although accuracy and requirements for the building layout in the target area are limited, this method can be used as a quicker and simpler option to established methods.
