Abstract

The article focuses on a study on the risk of pesticide contamination in cotton seed and in livestock. The results presented has included endosulfan and chlorflurazuron residues to provide a comparative basis for the development of a Residue Risk Index model by which other cotton chemicals could be benchmarked. A graph of the relative risk scores identifies the chemicals at highest risk of exceeding Maximum Residue Limit (MRL). MRL values for chemical were collected. In the study, the researchers included 56 pesticides registered for cotton production. To identify the risk, the research defined risk as the probability of finding pesticide residues in cotton seed, oil and meat products above the established MRL.
