Abstract

This article presents information on British author Thomas Stanley. After being privately tutored and study at Pembroke College in Cambridge, England, Stanley spent some years living in France. He returned to England, perhaps in the mid-1640s, and took up residence in the Middle Temple in London. Inherited wealth allowed him to live a life of some leisure and to act as a patron to other writers.
