The Power of Conflict: The Conflictual Relationship Between a Cyberfeminist Mailing List and the Network Society.

This article aims to extend and thereby problematize existing theorizations of the network society. Despite the aim of the list to explicitly challenge diverse experiences of discrimination, prejudice seemed to be repeated on the list. On a more positive note, some list-members noted that diverse mechanisms of inequality had been explicitly addressed on the list. Thus a learning process had potentially been initiated. Existing patterns of discrimination were actively challenged, inequalities were made explicit in the debate and some of the silences were at least temporarily broken.
