Abstract: The article provides a critical analysis of the rhetoric of career Web sites. First, the article sets a context for the study of career sites, drawing on related work in organizational communication and recruiting studies. Then, it outlines the qualitative and quantitative methods employed in this study of Fortune 500 career sites and present the findings. Finally, it discusses these findings in light of extant data on U.S. work practices and trends.
