Abstract
- Our paper examines the migration history and setllement experiences of recent Mexican immgrants on the rural Del-Mar-Va peninsula (Delaware, and the eastern shore of hte Chesapeake bay portions of Maryland and Virgina). Their rpesence as settler immigrants has radically expanded in the past decade and hte local area is a new immigrant -receiving area. Thus both immigrants and local communities are in hte process of adjustmetn and transition. Our ethnographic and survey data among immgrants and service providers sketch out the key areas of this process -- including migration history, economic issues, social services, life diffculties, and race relations.
