Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Southern Denmark explored the interaction between non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and the intestinal proton-coupled amino acid transporter (PAT1). The study found that NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac act as non-competitive inhibitors of PAT1, affecting the transport of amino acids. Molecular modeling suggested that NSAIDs bind to an allosteric site on PAT1. These findings could potentially lead to the development of specific inhibitors targeting PAT1.
