Abstract

Researchers at Qassim University conducted a study on the association between vitamin D deficiency and uncontrolled type 1 diabetes mellitus among Saudi pediatric patients. The study found that vitamin D deficiency was prevalent in the group, with 86.6% of uncontrolled T1DM patients being deficient compared to 16.5% of controlled T1DM patients. Both vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency were identified as risk factors for uncontrolled diabetes, highlighting the need for further research in this area. The study was conducted at King Saud Hospital in Unaizah, Saudi Arabia, and involved 218 children with T1DM. [Extracted from the article]
