Abstract

Researchers from Guangxi Medical University in China conducted a study on older patients with nonmetastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) undergoing intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). The study included 140 patients aged over 65 years and found that chemotherapy during radiotherapy did not improve overall survival rates compared to radiotherapy alone. Factors such as age, comorbidity index, and cancer stage were identified as independent prognostic factors for overall survival. The researchers developed a nomogram to predict survival outcomes in older patients with NPC undergoing radiotherapy. [Extracted from the article]
