Abstract
- Researchers from Jilin University in Changchun, People's Republic of China, have developed an advanced microneedle patch that integrates temperature monitoring, wireless communication, and responsive drug release for treating wound infections. The patch, named SP-CSMN, uses chitosan and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) to encapsulate and release the antibiotic rifampicin, enabling real-time feedback and automatic drug release when infection is detected. This innovative system has shown enhanced antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, accelerating wound healing in infected mice. The research offers a promising solution for efficient management of bacterial wound infections, demonstrating the potential of intelligent microneedle technology in healthcare.
