Abstract

Researchers at the First Hospital of Jilin University in Changchun, China, have discovered the Alongshan virus (ALSV), a novel pathogen in the Flaviviridae family with a unique segmented genome. Their study reveals that ALSV can infect mammalian cells and suppress the host's innate immune response by degrading human STAT2 through an autophagy pathway. The findings offer insights into the pathogenic mechanisms of this emerging flavivirus and suggest potential antiviral strategies by promoting mitochondrial mass. This research, supported by various organizations, has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable information on the interaction between ALSV and the host's immune system. [Extracted from the article]
