Abstract
- A study conducted at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, examined the impact of living donor (LD) versus deceased donor (DD) kidney transplantation on renal graft survival and patient overall survival rates. The research, which analyzed data from 1685 adult kidney transplant recipients between 1966 and 2013, found that living donor recipients had lower risks of graft failure and death compared to deceased donor recipients. The study concluded that living donor recipients generally have better patient and graft survival outcomes, aligning with international trends in kidney transplantation. This research provides valuable insights for future studies in the region. [Extracted from the article]
