Abstract
- Researchers from University Hospital Leicester NHS Foundation Trust conducted a study comparing collagenase injection with limited fasciectomy surgery to treat Dupuytren's contracture, a condition that causes fingers to bend towards the palm of the hand. The study, funded by the National Institutes of Health Research, involved 672 participants recruited from 31 National Health Service hospitals in England and Scotland. Results showed that collagenase injection was less effective but more cost-saving than limited fasciectomy, with further research needed to determine the long-term implications of both treatments.
